Happy Day Before Election Day.

I started my day today with a great first call, catching up with former Milwaukee Mayor John Norquist. The 37th Mayor of our fine city, he served from 1988 until he left office in 2004 to lead the Congress for the New Urbanism. It was fun to talk politics with him, and I’m thankful for the many developments and foundations he paved and created the way for in greater Downtown Milwaukee.

The 45th Mayor of Milwaukee will be voted into office tomorrow.

I’m excited for the ideas of Cavalier Johnson and his team. The Shermans still own a home in Downtown Milwaukee and both my wife and I are very active in many civic projects. New vision and leadership drive new energy. Let’s go Milwaukee!

As for the village we now live in, Shorewood, there’s an election too. I vote for who I know. That’s my mantra always.

So, while I find it odd that we’ve had zero candidates knock on our door, thankfully I know a few of the people on the ballot, know their stances, and trust their civic insights. Voter turnout probably won’t be huge, but I never miss an election.

It’s too late now, but I encourage you to know — or at least meet — any candidate that you vote for. Vote for the person, not the party. For the ideas, not the promises.

No matter what, VOTE tomorrow.
