Facebook has changed birthdays

Admit it. You’ve wished someone “Happy Birthday” on Facebook in the past week that you haven’t seen in a while or maybe won’t see for a while. It’s so easy! Sure, you could have called or texted, too and maybe you did .. but regardless — it’s hard not to admit that Facebook has changed the birthday greeting. And, you know what? That’s totally OK and actually pretty great.

Saying “Happy Birthday” is fun and it’s super easy via Facebook or whatever platform you use regularly. Plus, it’s nearly impossible to not do so with all of the notifications these days.

Facebook is how we celebrate birthdays today. I had one recently, and I heard from hundreds of people that I hardly ever do, and it’s mainly because we’re connected and reminded via social and on Facebook. I like this. And, am truly thankful for it. THANK YOU, for all the kind messages. Like you, I’ll probably only get 1–2 old-school “Hallmark” birthday cards via snail mail anymore. So, simple, fun greetings on Facebook are more than welcomed and truly appreciated.

Sure, I love connecting IRL too but having Facebook as a way to remind us that it’s our friends’ birthdays is wonderful.

If you don’t have FB connected to your calendar go to your feed now and check those birthday notifications. It takes only 10 seconds to wish everyone Happy Birthday. Why not? We only go around this earth once — cherish and celebrate it.

And, if it’s your birthday today — HAPPY BIRTHDAY to YOU!
